The Mercedes-Maybach GLS is basically a more luxurious version of the flagship GLS SUV that gets bespoke Maybach treatment. Starting with the exterior, the SUV comes finished in dual-tone paint and gets tons of chrome garnishing for a premium feel. It features a chrome-finished vertical louver grille up front, which seems to take inspiration from the Maybach 6 Concept.  Further, it also gets chrome detailing lower down on the bumpers, sides & rear, along with larger chrome-finished alloy wheels (21/22-inches). It also receives the iconic Maybach logo on the D-pillar.

Inside, it gets a similar dashboard layout as the standard model. However, things aren’t that peaceful when Maybach is involved. The plush cabin of the Maybach GLS is adorned with Nappa leather and other premium accents of wood trim, diamond quilting, and contrast piping, which gives it a more superior appeal as compared to the standard model.

Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 features

The rear, on the other hand, features a private jet-like two individual seats and an MBUX tablet in the rear center console to control various aspects of the car such as air-condition, sun blinds, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, seat functions, etc. That said, these electrically operated seats get heated, ventilated, and massage functions, and can be reclined to a lounge-like position. Also on offer are the rear folding tables, entertainment screens, silver-plated champagne flutes, and a fridge.

The other notable features of the Maybach GLS include two 12.3-inch connected screens (wherein one is for the digital instrument cluster and the other is for Mercedes’ MBUX infotainment system), five-zone climate control, front & rear wireless charging, a Burmester surround sound system, 64-colour ambient lighting, multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, front & rear parking sensors, and much more.

Powering the Mercedes-Maybach GLS is a 4.0-liter V8 engine combined with a 48v-mild hybrid system that brings the power and torque output down to 558PS and 730Nm, and sent to all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic gearbox and 4Matic all-wheel drive. Performance-wise, this luxurious demon can hit the 0-100 kmph mark in just 4.9 seconds before clocking an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph.

Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600

Expect the Mercedes-Maybach GLS to command a hefty premium over the regular model that retails from Rs 1.04 crore (ex-showroom). This flagship luxury SUV will be positioned against the likes of the Bentley Bentayga and the Rolls-Royce Cullinan.
