COVID19 Crises: Yamaha India To Shut Production Amid Surge In Coronavirus Cases

Due to the rising COVID-19 cases in the country, Yamaha Motors India has announced to temporarily shut its two production plants, situated in Surajpur (Uttar Pradesh) and Kanchipuram (Tamil Nadu) to protect its employees from the possible threat of coronavirus disease. These manufacturing facilities will remain closed from 15th May to 31st May 2021.

While the production will remain closed during the aforementioned interval, Yamaha will continue working with its suppliers & dealers to manage inventories. Its corporate and office employees will proceed to work from home. The two-wheeler manufacturer has also stated that the decision to resume the production plants will be taken after reviewing the covid-19 situation.

Yamaha is not the only automaker to halt production amid the ongoing crisis. Earlier, Hero MotoCorp, MG Motors, and Maruti Suzuki have also taken similar steps to avoid any misfortune with their employees. Recently, Maruti has also extended its plant shutdown till 15th May, which was supposed to end on 9th May 2021.

Besides shutting their plants for the well-being of their employees, the brands are also coming forward to help the nation in battling the deadly COVID19 outbreak. The Maruti Suzuki has recently announced to support the manufacturing of Oxygen PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption) generator plants. For this, the brand has joined hands with two NCR-based companies- Airox Nigen Equipments Pvt Ltd and SAM Gas Projects Pvt Ltd. MG Motors is also assisting a Gujrat-based company to increase the production of medical oxygen. Mahindra Group, on the other hand, has launched a new "Oxygen on Wheels" initiative in Maharashtra to supply oxygen from production plants to the hospitals/home.
