Skoda Auto has recently announced a delay in 2021 Octavia's launch due to the COVID-19 outbreak. While you have to wait for its launch, the Czech maker has silently updated the Onyx and Monte Carlo variants of the Rapid sedan. Both the trims have received minor cosmetic additions.
Starting with the Onyx trim, it gets glossy silver ORVMs & side molding (instead of black), and silver front lip spoiler along with the existing chrome grille surrounds and glossy black clubber alloy wheels. On the inside, it continues to sport Tellur Grey leatherette upholstery with black inserts. On the other hand, the top-of-the-line Monte Carlo variant receives a new front lip spoiler, side spoiler, and new Stratos black-finished alloy wheels. The interior is more or less the same, featuring a flat-bottom super sport steering wheel with red stitching and Monte Carlo leatherette seat upholstery.
As for color options, the Rapid Onyx trim comes with two color choices – Lapiz Blue & Candy White, whereas the Monte Carlo is offered with three ivories – Flash Red, Brilliant Silver, and Candy White.
No other changes have been made to any of the Rapid variants. For reference, the Skoda Rapid sedan is available in a total of 6 variants – Rider, Rider Plus, Ambition, Onyx, Style, and Monte Carlo. The features list of both the model is also unchanged. The notable features include quad-cut projector headlamps with LED DRLs, remote control opening & closing of windows, touchscreen infotainment system (8-inch in Monte Carlo, 6.5-inch in Onyx) with MySkoda Connect, multifunction steering wheel, automatic climate control with rear AC vent, cruise control (not in Onyx), height-adjustable driver's seat, electrically adjustable & foldable ORVMs, rain-sensing wipers (not in Onyx), dual front airbags, ABS, ESC, hill hold assist, front & rear fog lamps, rear parking sensors, and many more.
Powering the Skoda Rapid is a 1.0-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged TSI petrol engine that churns out 110PS of power and 175Nm of torque. Transmission duties are taken care of by either a 6-speed MT or a 6-speed torque converter unit.
Skoda hasn't yet announced any change in the prices for the revised feature list of the 2021 Rapid sedan. It is still priced between Rs 7.79 lakh to 13.29 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), and continuing its rivalry with the Maruti Ciaz, Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Toyota Yaris, and Volkswagen Vento.
