2021 Volkswagen Polo Facelift – What's New?

On the front, the 2021 VW Polo gets a new dual-beam headlamp connected by an LED DRL strip with a large VW badge positioned in the centre. The bumper design of the car has also been revised. It looks quite aggressive than the ongoing model and features a large air dam. Move to the sides and you'll notice the all-new dual-tone alloy wheels.

Inside the cabin, the facelifted Polo features a similar dashboard layout to the pre-facelift model. However, it incorporates a larger touchscreen infotainment system, a new steering wheel with refreshed brand logo, new upholstery, and a touch-based AC control panel. While the features and technical details are scarce at the moment, the 2022 Polo is likely to get advanced connected car technology with more driver-assistance features.

As for the powertrain, the 2021 VW Polo facelift is expected to share its engine options with the 2021 SEAT Ibiza, which includes a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder TSI petrol and a 1.5-litre TSI petrol. While the 1.5-litre unit produces 150PS and 250Nm in Ibiza, the 1.0-litre unit comes with two different engine tuning – 96PS/175NM and 110PS/200Nm. Besides, it could also get a compressed natural gas (CNG) option with the 1.0-litre TGI unit.

Will it launch in India?

Well, the VW Polo offered in our country is a fifth-generation model, which has received several updates over the years. However, Volkswagen intends to launch the new Polo in India but it could take a couple of years as the brand is currently focusing on the SUV segment. That said, we could get the new Polo, albeit with a generation jump, i.e., the seventh-gen Polo hatchback likely to make it to India. It is expected to be launched by 2023.
