Bajaj Chetak Got Costlier By Up To Rs 15,000

Bajaj Auto has marked its entry into the electric two-wheeler segment with its iconic Chetak brand in January 2020. Now after more than a year of its launch, Bajaj Auto has increased its prices by up to Rs 15,000. With this, the Bajaj Chetak now ranges between Rs 1.15 lakh to Rs 1.20 lakh (ex-showroom). Here are the variant-wise revised prices: –

As the above table indicates, there is an increase of Rs 15,000 for the Urbane variant and Rs 5,000 for the top-spec Premium trim. With this updated price, the Chetak has become approximately Rs 12,000 more expensive than the TVS iQube Electric (Rs. 1.08 lakh). However, it still undercuts the Ather 450X (Rs 1.27-1.46 lakh) by almost Rs 26,000. Unfortunately, the availability of all these scooters is restricted to some metropolitan cities only. Currently, the Bajaj Chetak is only available in Bengaluru and Pune. 

About Bajaj Chetak e-Scooter

The Bajaj Chetak is a neo-retro-styled electric scooter that comes equipped with a 4.08kW brushless DC motor and a 3kWH lithium-ion battery pack that promises a riding range of over 95km in Eco mode and over 85km in the Sport mode. It also gets a reverse mode. Bajaj Chetak electric scooter's battery can be charged upto 25 percent in one hour and 100 percent in 5 hours via a conventional 5A power socket. The battery comes with a 3-year or 50,000km warranty and its life is claimed to last around 70,000km.

As mentioned above, the Bajaj Chetak comes in two trims- Urbane and Premium. While the former variant gets a front drum brake, the Premium variant comes with a front disc brake. On the other hand, the Premium trim is offered in four colors option: black, beige, blue, and red, whereas the base-spec Urbane comes in two colors: yellow and white.

As far as the design & features are concerned, the Chetak electric scooter comes with a metallic body and its well-formed sequential lines and floating wheel design reminiscent of the legendary Chetak. At a first sight, it looks like a Vespa scooter. The headlamp and turn signals of the e-scooter are LED units. The headlamps come with horseshoe-shaped LED daytime running lamps, which give it a modern yet classic look. It also gets a fully digital plain LCD instrument cluster that comes with smartphone connectivity, geo-tagging, and geofencing features as well as a turn-by-turn navigation assistant. The smartphone connectivity tech uses the Internet Of Things (IoT). Using this feature, one can also see the scooter's location, charging status, range, and many more.
