2021 Mahindra XUV500 Interior Leaked In Spy Shots

The next-generation Mahindra XUV500 is likely to break cover in the second quarter of 2021. But before that, it has been spotted testing once again, revealing the interior and features details.

In the latest spy shots, we can clearly see the newly designed dashboard with dual-tone shade. It will also get a new multi-functional steering wheel with leather wrapping and a Mercedes-Benz like twin screen setup for infotainment and instrumentation cluster. Unlike the existing model, the instrument cluster of the new XUV500 is likely to be a fully digital unit. The centre AC vents are positioned just below the floating infotainment system and they get the chrome detailing around them. We can also see a manual handbrake lever and a automatic gear selector stick, which could come on the lower/mid-spec variants. Expect top-spec trim to feature electronic brakes along with several other new features such as a panoramic sunroof, wireless charger, connected car tech, and many more.

The safety quotient, on the other hand, is expected to see a big revision with the incorporation of 360-degree camera, and segment-first level-1 autonomous technology offering features like lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring system, and autonomous braking, etc.

Mahindra will offer the 2021 XUV500 with both petrol and diesel engine options, comprising 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines from the second-generation Mahindra Thar. However, they are likely to be tuned for better output. The transmission duties are expected to be handled by either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. The diesel mill could also get all-wheel-drive (AWD) system option.

Like the ongoing model, the new Mahindra XUV500 will continue to be a 7-seater offering. It is likely to be priced between Rs 14 lakh to Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will resume its rivalry with the MG Hector Plus, Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson, Tata Harrier, and the Tata Safari.
