2021 MG ZS EV Launched With Extended Driving Range

Morris Garages has launched the upgraded version of the ZS EV in the Indian market at a starting price of Rs 20.99 lakh. The updated ZS EV gets an improved battery pack, better ground clearance, and a few new features over the previous model.

2021 MG ZS EV – What's New?

The 2021 iteration of MG ZS EV gets an updated 44.5kWh Hi-Tech battery pack, which is claimed to offer an effective range of 419kms on a single charge, 79km more than before. However, the power figures (143PS/353Nm) of the EV and the charging capabilities remain identical to the previous model. 

While the SUV didn't get any cosmetic update, the brand has changed the aspect ratio of the tires from 215/50 R17 to 215/55 R17 along with a 16mm rise in the ground clearance (177mm), compared to the earlier 161mm. Besides this, MG Motors has also introduced a new feature called 'EcoTree challenge' in the i-Smart 2.0 connected car technology, which will allow you to track the real-time flow of your CO2 savings with the car and will assist you to compare your attainments with top 10 ZS EV owners in the country via a leaderboard.

Apart from the above-mentioned changes, the electric SUV retails all the features and specifications as the earlier model. The notable features of 2021 MG ZS EV include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with android auto & apple carplay, an 8.9-inch driver's display, a dual-pane sunroof, rain-sensing front wipers, automatic projector headlamps, keyless entry with push-button start/stop, 6-way adjustable driver’s seat, auto climate control and a PM2.5 air filter, heated ORVM, etc. Safety features include 6 airbags, ABS and EBD, brake assist (BA), ESP, reverse parking sensors with rear-view camera, tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), rear seat belt reminder (1st in the segment), hill start assist, hill descent assist, 3 point seatbelt for all passengers and many more.

ZS EV continuous to be available in two variants: Excite and Exclusive. However, their prices have been increased by a significant margin. Here are the revised prices: –

While the base-spec Excite trim is now dearer by Rs 11,000, the prices of top-spec Exclusive variant have gone up by Rs 60,000. 

New MG ZS EV

Currently, the ZS EV is available in 31 cities across the country, including most of the metropolitan cities and tier-2 towns like Jaipur, Indore, Lucknow, Ludhiana, Vizag, Agra, and many more. In the Indian market, the ZS EV faces direct competition with the Hyundai Kona EV (Rs 23.75 – 23.95 lakh) only.
