2021 Maruti Swift Facelift Spied; Launch Soon

India's most popular hatchback, the Maruti Suzuki Swift soon going to receive a mid-life upgrade. Recently, its test mule has been spied for the very first time somewhere in Gujarat.

Going by the spy shots, the front grille of the test mule was fully covered, which suggests that the Indian-spec Swift facelift will also get a redesigned grille similar to its Japanese version i.e. it is likely to sport a new honeycomb mesh grille with a chrome strip in the middle. However, unlike its global model, the bumpers, fog lamp housing, and alloy wheels design have not been updated. These parts are carried forward from the existing model.

It is important to note that the testing mule is wearing a sporty red & black dual-tone ivory, which could be exclusive to the top-spec variants only. Apart from this, there are no other changes visible on the exterior of the car.

The interior of the 2021 Maruti Swift is yet to be seen, but we believe it to remain the same as the current model. However, its features list could be slightly updated. The Swift facelift is likely to get a new 4.2-inch color MID (multi-information display) for the driver, along with an updated Smartplay studio infotainment system. It could also get some new safety features such as Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and hill-hold control for the AMT variants, just like the Maruti Dzire facelift, which was launched last year.

Apart from these added techs, it will retain all the existing features, which mainly includes Android Auto & Apple Carplay smartphone connectivity, projector LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, automatic climate control, a flat-bottom multifunction steering wheel, dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and rear parking camera.

The biggest update can be seen under the hood in the form of a 1.2-liter Dual-jet Dual-VVT (90PS/113Nm) petrol engine, that also powers the facelifted Dzire sedan & Baleno premium hatch. This engine comes equipped with an idle start-stop function, which helps to improve the fuel economy. Maruti could also continue to offer its current K12B 1.2-litre petrol engine (83PS/113Nm) along with the 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox options.

The 2021 Maruti Swift facelift is likely to be launched in February or March month. As far as the pricing is concerned, expect Swift facelift to be priced at a minor premium over the ongoing model, which retails from Rs 5.19 lakh to Rs 8.02 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
