2021 MG Hector Facelift- How it is different from the previous model?

Morris Garages made its India debut in June 2019 with the Hector SUV, and in less than 2 years the brand has brought down its facelift version, probably due to rising competition. The new MG Hector facelift has received minor esthetical updates & some new convenience features.

The changes on the outside include new chrome studded grille, redesigned 18-inches dual-tone alloy wheels (against previous 17-inch units), and skid plates at both ends. The brand has also replaced the red strip connecting the tail lamps, with a glossy black garnish. Apart from this, the brand has also introduced a new Starry blue paint scheme with the Hector, which was earlier limited to the Hector Plus only.

On the inside, the dashboard layout remains unchanged. However, it gets a new dual-tone black-cream cabin theme, instead of the older all-black color scheme. It gives the cabin a more spacious & premium feel.

New Features

MG has also given the car some new features such as ventilated front seats, remote control via smartwatch, a wireless mobile charger, auto-dimming internal rearview mirror (IRVM), USB port on the passenger side, and a less transparent sunroof cover.

Besides this, MG Hector's virtual assistant will now also understand 31 Hinglish voice commands to operate various functions of the car. Here is the complete list:-

Competitors

In the mid-size SUV segment, the facelifted MG Hector resumes its competition with the likes of Tata Harrier (Rs. 13.84 – 20.30 lakh), and Mahindra XUV500 (Rs. 13.57 – 19.30 lakh. However, as per its price range, some of its variants are put on par with Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos

Author's Take

The MG Hector is the best selling mid-size SUV since its India debut in 2019. The launch of facelifted Hector indicates the brand's serious efforts to outlive more strongly in the rising competition. Although the cosmetic changes are minor, they are noticeable and giving the SUV a refreshing look.

The 2021 MG Hector not only looks more attractive than before but also has become a more mature product with the introduction of new features.
