Nissan Magnite Received 4-Star Crash Test Rating In ASEAN NCAP

The Nissan Magnite started its journey on 2nd December 2020 in the Indian market, and received a huge response from the buyers, thanks to its aggressive pricing. In fact, its demand is so immense that its waiting period has stretched up to 8 months. The Japanese carmaker has also introduced the SUV in the Indonesian market, and it has managed to score a 4-star safety rating out of 5 in the recently conducted crash test by ASEAN NCAP. 

The crash test results have not been released yet, but in an official press statement, the ASEAN NCAP said-

The New Car Assessment Programme for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP) had recently performed an assessment on the model Nissan Magnite, the second assessed model under the Nissan brand in year 2020. Based on the overall score, ASEAN NCAP is pleased to announce that the new Nissan Magnite had successfully obtained 4-Star ASEAN NCAP rating in the assessment. Details of the results will be released soon.

About Nissan Magnite

Nissan Magnite is a sub-compact crossover SUV, positioned below the Kicks SUV in Nissan's product lineup. It uses the same platform as the Renault Triber. The Magnite is offered in five variants: XE, XL, XV, XV Premium, and XV Premium (O), which are priced between Rs 4.99 lakh and Rs 9.45 lakh (ex-showroom). However, Nissan will soon increase the prices as these rates were introductory, and were valid till 31st December 2020 only.

This worldwide smallest Nissan SUV is available with two petrol engine options – a 1.0-liter naturally-aspirated (NA) petrol (72PS/96Nm) and 1.0-liter turbocharged petrol (100PS/up to 160Nm) engine. Both engines are offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the turbo mill is also available with the choice of a CVT automatic gearbox.

As far as the mileage is concerned, the NA petrol engine delivers an ARAI claimed fuel efficiency of 18.75kmp, whereas the turbocharged engine offers 20kmpl with manual & 17.7kmpl with a CVT transmission.

In the Indian market, the Nissan Magnite is the most affordable sub- 4 meter SUV, which is positioned against the likes of Hyundai Venue, Ford Ecosport, Kia Sonet, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Honda WR-V, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Mahindra XUV300, and the upcoming Renault Kiger.
