Hyundai Recalled 456 Units Of Kona Electric SUV Over Potential Battery Issues

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) has announced a recall for the Kona Electric SUV to inspect possible electrical deficiencies in the battery system of the car. A total of 456 units of the Kona EV is affected by the recall which were manufactured between 1st April 2019, and 31st October 2020.

The recall is perhaps due to the reports from Korea, where faulty cells caught fire. However, in international markets, the Kona Electric is available with two battery pack choices: 39.2kWh and 64kWh, whereas its Indian version comes with the former battery pack.

The brand will soon make contact with the owners of the affected models to bring their vehicles for inspection at the authorized service station and if required, the defective component will be changed without any charges.
