2021 KTM 125 Duke Launch In Pipeline?

KTM 125 Duke, the most powerful motorcycle in the 125cc segment, was launched in 2018 and it is now due for an update. If reports are to be believed, the Austrian maker is gearing up to introduce the 125 Duke in a new avatar, and even some of the KTM dealerships have already commenced accepting unofficial bookings for the entry-level streetfighter for a token of Rs 5,000. The new KTM 125 Duke is likely to be revealed in the next week. However, the brand hasn't made any official announcement regarding this.

The 2021 KTM 125 Duke is likely to get some significant changes, inspired by the KTM 200 Duke. The bike is expected to receive the same bodywork extending as the 200 Duke with a new halogen headlamp & LED DRLs. Its fuel tank capacity could also be increased from 10.2 liters to 13.5 liters. Besides this, the updated baby Duke could also sport new ivories to differentiate it from the 200. The new 125 Duke will continue to employ the trellis frame but might get a new bolt-on subframe.

Apart from these changes, we don't expect any difference in its powertrains and hardware. It will continue to be powered by the same BS6-compliant 124cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 14.5PS and 12Nm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed transmission. On the other hand, the 43mm WP inverted front fork and WP rear monoshock will be retained as the current model. Braking duties will be supervised by a 300mm front disc with single-channel ABS and a 230mm rear disc.

Currently, the BS6 125 Duke retails at Rs 1,42,265 (ex-showroom Delhi). The new model will surely command a premium over the existing model. In the Indian market, the 125 Duke doesn't have any direct rival. But in terms of pricing, it goes head-to-head against the Yamaha MT-15 streetfighter.
