Mahindra To Ramp Up Thar Production To Cater High Demand

Mahindra's second-generation Thar off-roader is in high demand these days. It has crossed the 20,000 bookings mark only one month after its launch on 2nd October 2020. And this results in a long waiting period of up to six months, depending on the variant. Now, to cater to this huge demand and to cut down the waiting period, M&M is going to increase Thar's production by over 30%, from 2,000 to 3,000 units from January 2021.

As we've also reported last month, Mahindra Thar's hardtop models are in massive demand. Mahindra offers this rooftop standard on the higher-spec LX trim and as an option on the lower-spec Thar AX variant. This is the first time when Thar is getting a factory fitted hardtop option. Apart from this, it is also available with soft & convertible rooftop choices. Their current waiting period is as follows: –

Soft top

6-8 weeks

Convertible top

8-11 weeks

Hard Top

22-22 weeks

Note: – It is important to note that the waiting period may vary depending upon the variant/model, city, dealership, and color chosen.

Deliveries of the all-new Thar have already started, and the brand is planning to deliver over 500 units of Thar during this coming Diwali weekend.
