Five Things To Know About Upcoming Tata Altroz Turbo

Tata Altroz is doing really well in our market. Its premium look, spacious cabin and rich features list are attracting the customers. However, its petrol engine has failed to impress a larger section with its performance. But soon Tata is going to overcome this by introducing a turbocharged petrol engine with the Altroz hatch. But before the company launch the sportier Altroz, here are the five things you need to know about the upcoming hot hatch:-

1. Engine Specifications

The Tata Altroz Turbo will be powered by Nexon's 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine but in the detuned state. It will produce 110PS of maximum power at 5500rpm and 140Nm of peak torque at 1500-5500rpm whereas the Nexon develops 10PS/30Nm of more power & torque compared to Altroz.

2. More refined automatic gearbox likely to be offered

The Altroz Turbo is likely to get a more sophisticated and refined dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) alongside the manual gearbox. On the other hand, the Tata Nexon offers AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) with the petrol motor. 

3. Variant lineup

Recently, a document of the transport department has been leaked which reveals that Altroz Turbo will be offered in four variants: XT, XT(O). XZ and XZ(O). The lower-spec XE and XM variants won’t get the turbocharged petrol engine option. 

4. Will there be any cosmetic changes?

Well, we don't think so. It will feature the same design as the non-turbo variants. Possibly, the only addition we may get to see is a new blue exterior paint job and a turbo badging. 

5. Expected Launch & Price

Tata Altroz Turbo is likely to hit the dealerships around Diwali. Currently, the Altroz petrol variants (Naturally Aspirated) range between Rs 5.44 lakh to Rs 7.65 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The pricing of Turbo variants could start around Rs 8 lakh and likely to go touch Rs 8.8 lakh mark. It will lock horns with the Volkswagen Polo TSI and the upcoming Hyundai i20.
