The most powerful SUV from Audi, the RS Q8 has been launched in India. Its price starts from Rs 2.07 crore (ex-showroom). It was globally debuted at the Los Angeles Motor Show last year.
What's special about the Audi RS Q8?
Built on the same platform as the Lamborghini Urus, the German manufacturer claims standstill to 100kmph in just 3.8 seconds thanks to the 4.0-liter TFSI twin-turbo V8 petrol burner with an 8-speed automatic transmission that makes a huge 599PS and 800Nm of mammoth grunt. This massive horsepower is sent to all four wheels through Audi’s Quattro all-wheel-drive system.
The top speed of the car is electronically limited to the 250kmph. However, the voluntary RS dynamic package plus offers a risen top speed of 305kmph. Its ability to shut four-cylinders when not required aids to fuel efficiency. Additionally, it gets a 48V mild-hybrid system for torque-assist and ensures high efficiency.
It is the fastest SUV that has blanketed the Nurburgring track in a lap time of just 7 minutes and 42.2 seconds.
It comes with a 23-inch machine-cut alloys wheels which are coupled to an all-wheel steering system and multi-mode air suspension. It also lets you choose between Sport and Comfort mode, altering the driving experience depending upon your selection.
Design & Features
As far as the design is concerned, the SUV gets the same design as the standard model and a coupe-like silhouette, similar to the Urus. It gets a massive blacked-out single-piece grille at the front with RS badge and dual exhaust tips which gives it a distinguished look.
The cabin design is also similar to the regular R8, however, there are some additions that set it apart from the standard model. These include an all-black cabin, sports seats with additional bolstering, RS-specific screens, and a virtual cockpit that features a G-force monitor, a lap timer and an acceleration timer, and more.
Other notable features include Audi’s MMI infotainment system with voice control function, cruise control, four-zone climate control, powered tailgate, powered front seats with memory function, ambient lighting, etc. Additionally, it also gets an optional Black Styling Package which includes a panoramic sunroof, Matrix LED headlights, head-up display (HUD), RS sports exhaust, blacked-out logos, carbon-ceramic brakes and a Bang and Olufsen advanced sound system.
Rivals
The Audi RS Q8 competes against the Lamborghini Urus and Porsche Cayenne which are priced at Rs 3.1 crore and Rs 1.19-1.92 crore respectively.
