Hyundai Elantra N-Line: Five Things To Know About

The N-badged Hyundai Elantra has now been revealed finally, after a series of leaks and renders from the past few months. The N-Line cars from Hyundai are supposed to be a cosmetically tweaked and performance-enhanced version of their standard version. Interestingly, this is the very first time Elantra gets an N-badged version.

So what exactly are the five pointers that summarise the N-badged Elantra? Read through to find out!

1. Gets a powerful Engine

The Crux of the changes lie under the hood. The 1.6L Smartstream turbo-petrol engine that churns out a whopping 204PS of max power and peak torque output of 265 Nm. This engine will come paired with the option of a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic with paddle shifters.

Hyundai also claims that they have stiffened the suspension, and have provided larger front disc brakes. The company will also keep the room open for customisation by providing a N performance part catalogue providing host of options.

2. Visual Step-up from Hyundai Elantra

The Elantra has a flaring personality of its own, the N addition of N-badge ensures that Elantra gets just the right additional amount of visual spark to justify the ‘N’ badging.

The design elements that distinguish the Elantra N-line include a glossy treatment on the ORVM and side skirts, blacked-out grille carrying a N-Line badging, arrow shaped air intakes, 18 inch dual-tone alloys, chrome finished twin tailpipes and a faux rear diffuser.

3. Sporty treatment on the inside

On the inside, The N-badged trim gets a sports seat and leather-wrapped steering. It also features a contrast red stitching for the leather upholstery giving the cabin a sporty feel, differentiating it from standard Elantra.

The leather bolsters on the sports seat, will keep the occupants firm whenever the car is thrown at the corners. The metallic treatment provided on the cabin is a subtle addition as well adding to the overall charm of the cabin

4. Comes Feature packed

A Hyundai that retails at a premium price, is definitely a proven recipe for great features. The N-badged Elantra does great justice to this notion and comes packed right upto the brim with an exhaustive list of goodies.

It gets a memory function for the driver’s seat, alloy pedals, drive mode selector, an electronic parking brake, a 10.25 inch instrumentation cluster, a similar sized screen for the infotainment system offered with the top-spec trims.

Even the lower spic trims feature touchscreen infotainment, 8-inches in size, the instrumentation cluster however, will be a 4.2 inch LCD unit that gets sporty analogue dials. The car also gets smart connected tech that will provide them convenience of controlling functions like remote start through mobile application.

5. Chances of hitting the Indian dealerships are rare

Going by the past track records of the Korean giant, one needs to be highly optimistic to believe that the performance sedan will be launched in India. Though a counter-argument could be the fact that Hyundai has introduced the turbocharged variant of most of its offering, including the Grand i10 Nios, Aura, Venue, Verna, Creta and most probably will be launched with the next-gen i20 as well.

Elantra is a premium offering retailing at a price above 20 Lakhs, the turbocharged engine can push the price well above 23 Lakhs. Hyundai might be well aware of the fact that it might not find many takers at such a high price.
