7-seater Kia Sonet Teased Ahead Of Its Global Unveil Tomorrow

Kia Motors has teased the 7-seater Sonet ahead of its global premiere on 8th April 2021. It will go on sale in Indonesia first. While there are no official words regarding its India debut, we expect it to be launched here sometime later this year.

The 7-seater Sonet will share its underpinning with its 5-seater version. For the people not in know, the Indonesian-spec Sonet has a length of 4,120mm which is 125mm more than the Indian version. However, both models share the same wheelbase (2,500mm).

Going by the teaser image, it is unlikely to feature any major exterior changes except for minor cosmetic differences. The interior is also expected to be the same as its 5-seater counterpart save for the added third-row seat which will consume the boot space of the car, and in all likelihood, it will be tight for adult passengers. However, the brand could offer a 50:50 split function for the third-row and 60:40 function for the middle row seats, which will allow generating a huge space for your luggage. The middle row seats are also likely to get slide and tumble features for access to the new third row.

In terms of features, it will retain all the whistles and bells of the Sonet SUV that mainly includes an LED lighting system, dual-tone alloy wheels, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with UVO connected car technology, Apple Carplay & Android Auto support, an electric sunroof, front and rear parking sensors, bose sound system, auto climate control, rear AC vents, ventilated front seats, and many more.

Under the bonnet, Kia is likely to offer the Sonet 7-seater with a 1.5-liter petrol engine that churns out 115PS of max power and 144Nm of peak torque. Transmission options are expected to include a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic. It is expected to debut with the same nameplate.
