The much-awaited Volkswagen Golf GTI has finally been launched in India at Rs 53 lakh (ex-showroom) as a fully imported unit. The first lot of this hot hatch (150 units) has already been completely booked by enthusiasts, and its second batch, comprising 100 units, might be brought next year.
Volkswagen Golf GTI – Exterior Design and Colour Options
The new hot hatch from German automaker boasts clean lines with plenty of sporty design touches that give it an aggressive and racy look. Upfront, it gets dual-pod IQ.Light LED headlamps, connected by a width-spanning LED DRL and a sporty red strip. It also features a GTI badging on the grille and an illuminated VW logo. Its bumper features honeycomb detailing with 5-piece fog lamps forming an X-motif.
Thanks to its clean, timeless lines and muscular stance, the Golf GTI stands out as a hot hatch that balances performance with practicality. Its signature elements like sharp character lines, red brake callipers and discreet GTI badging add to its dynamic appeal, while the slightly lowered suspension hints at its performance-focused underpinnings.
Towards the rear, neat, wraparound 3D LED tail lamps and a bold rear bumper with twin-exhaust outlets round off the overall appearance.

Volkswagen offers the Indian-spec Golf GTI in four colour options: Moonstone Grey, Grenadilla Black Metallic, Oryx White and Kings Red Metallic.
Interior Design and Features
Inside, the VW Golf GTI sports a minimalist dashboard design, accentuated by 30-colour ambient lighting that bathes the interior in a customisable glow, instantly elevatomg its premium vibe. Taking the centre stage is a 12.9-inch floating infotainment system, paired with a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, putting all essential information and entertainment at your fingertips. Add in a 7-speaker sound system, tri-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, a wireless smartphone charger, heated front seats, and even a ChatGPT AI assistant.

For safety, it gets seven airbags, electronic stability control, a tyre pressure monitoring system, front & rear parking sensors, and a level-2 ADAS suite, comprising driver assist features like travel assist, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), active blind spot monitor, rear traffic alert, emergency assist, lane assist and much more.
Engine and Performance
Underneath the hood, the Golf GTI houses a 2-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that produces a max power output of 265PS and 370Nm, all of them sent to the front wheels via a 7-speed DCT transmission. It allows the hatchback to run from a standstill to 100 kmph in 5.9 seconds and hit an electronically-limited top speed of 250 kmph.
