After bringing the facelifted Mercedes-Benz GLE last year, the German automaker has now launched its performance-oriented version – the AMG GLE 53 Coupe, at Rs 1.85 crore (ex-showroom).
What’s New?
Visually, the 2024 AMG GLE 53 looks largely unchanged from the pre-facelift model. However, a closer look will reveal the redesigned headlamps and taillamps, along with a modified lower section of the front bumper. It also receives optional 22-inch forged twin-spoke alloy wheels, while 21-inch 5-twin-spoke units come as standard fitment.
Mercedes also offers the sportier SUV coupe in two new exterior paint options – Alpine Grey Uni and Sodalite Blue Metallic.
Inside the cabin, the facelifted AMG GLE 53 new AMG steering wheel with part-leather part-Alcantara finish and additional control buttons for essential driving functions. The rest of the interior, along with the equipment list, remains unchanged. It continues to get features like dual 12.3-inch digital displays, a 13-speaker 590W Burmester sound system, panoramic sunroof, heated front seats, a heads-up display, four-zone climate control, a 360-degree surround view monitor, electronic stability control, and blind-spot assist system.

Powertrain
Underneath the hood, the facelifted AMG GLE continue to employ the 3-litre, 6-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that produces 453PS of max power and 560Nm of whopping torque output. It comes mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox, driving all four wheels of the SUV. This gasoline mill now also benefits from a 48V mild-hybrid system that adds 20PS and 200Nm when required, reducing the 0-100kmph sprint time by 0.3 seconds, bringing it to 5 seconds. Its top speed is limited to 250 kmph.

Competition
In the Indian market, the Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Coupe locks horns with the BMW X5 M, Range Rover Sport and Porsche Cayenne.
