2022 Maruti Baleno Facelift Spotted During TVC Shoot, Launch Expected Soon

Latest Update: Facelifted Maruti Suzuki Baleno has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 9.35 lakh (ex-showroom). Click here for details.

Maruti Suzuki is going to update most of the cars from its current model lineup next year, and looking at the facelift Baleno, which was recently spied during an ad shoot, it seems like it will be the first car to be launched by Maruti in 2022.

The facelifted Baleno will come with significant design changes. Starting with the front, it will get a new & slimmer blacked-out grille, updated LED headlamps, and refreshed bumper with a large air dam. The side profile remains the same as earlier, while the dual-tone alloy wheels get a new design. The rear profile sees a slightly redesigned tailgate with sleeker LED tail lamps.

Inside the cabin, it gets a new layered dashboard layout with a floating touchscreen infotainment system (probably of 8-inches), a three-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, and new AC controls. To add a touch of contrast, the middle layer of the dashboard likely to get a glossy silver treatment that pleasingly integrates with the black color.

In terms of features, the new infotainment unit is expected to get wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto support, along with connected car technology. It could also receive a new user interface to make things more refreshing. Besides, a wireless smartphone charger, powered driver’s seat, and rear AC vents could also be on the cards.

The facelifted Maruti Suzuki Baleno should remain mechanically unchanged. That said, it is likely to carry forward the same 83PS 1.2-litre K12B and 90PS 1.2-litre Dualjet K12N (with mild-hybrid tech) petrol engine as the ongoing model, paired with a standard 5-speed manual transmission. The non-hybrid mill will also get an optional CVT automatic unit.

Currently, Maruti Suzuki retails the Baleno through NEXA dealerships in the range of Rs 5.99 lakh to Rs 9.45 lakh (ex-showroom). The facelifted model is likely to carry a notable premium over the ongoing model.
