2021 Aprilia SR 125 And 160 Launched In India; Price Starts From Rs 1.07 Lakh

Italian two-wheeler giant Aprilia has finally launched the mid-life refreshed SR 160 scooter in India along with the updated SR 125. Both the scooters get revised designs, new graphics, and more convenient features. Here's take a look at their new prices: –

2021 Aprilia SR 125 and SR 160 price

  Price (Ex-showroom Pune)
Aprilia SR 125 Rs 1,07,595
Aprilia SR 160 Rs 1,17,494

2021 Aprilia SR 125 and SR 160 – What's New?

For 2021, both the scooters get revised front facia with a new LED headlamp and a more aerodynamic handlebar cowl, featuring new air vents along with the existing bulb type turn-indicators. Both the siblings have also received sportier split seats, a new chunkier grab handle, and an ‘X’ shaped LED tail light. Overall, both the scooters look quite sporty and stylish than their previous iterations.

In terms of features, both the SR 125 and SR 160 get a new instrument cluster, borrowed from the Aprilia SXR 160. This fully-digital unit comprises a speedometer, tachometer, clock, trip meter, average fuel efficiency indicator, temperature indicator, fuel level readouts, and a top-speed display as well. Besides, they also feature a USB charging port, a boot light, and an optional Bluetooth connectivity support for the instrumentation system for an extra Rs 2,000.

2021 Aprilia SR 125 and SR 160 – Engine and Underpinnings

Both the Aprilia SR 125 and SR 160 are powered by the same engine as their previous model. That means, the SR 125 utilises a 124.45cc air-cooled motor with the maximum output rated at 9.5PS and 9.9Nm, whereas the SR 160 employs an air-cooled 160.03cc single-cylinder mill churning out 11.01PS and 11.06Nm. Talking about their rivals, the TVS NTorq Race XP Edition (10.2PS/10.5Nm) and Yamaha Aerox 155 (15PS/13.9Nm) generate better output.

As for underpinnings, you get the same conventional telescopic fork and a single rear shock. Meanwhile, braking is parented by the front disc and rear drum setup with a single-channel Antilock Braking System from the older model. At 6-litres, the fuel tank capacity too remains unchanged.

Author's Take

The Aprilia SR range of scooters are popularly known for their great performance-centric personality. However, the demand for premium scooters is still not that high in India, so it will be interesting to see how both of these updated scooters perform in the Indian market, especially against their more powerful & feature-rich competitors like Yamaha Aerox 155 (Rs 1,29,000) and TVS Ntorq 125 Race XP (Rs 85,025).
