Skoda Kushaq 1.0 TSI Petrol Is Now More Fuel Efficient

  • Gets an idle start/stop system.
  • Skoda Kushaq 1.0 TSI now offers up to 9 percent more mileage.

Soon after updating the Kushaq SUV with new features, Skoda Auto has now made its 1.0-liter TSI petrol variants more fuel efficient. The brand has done that by introducing the auto idle start/stop system with the engine. Earlier, this fuel-saving tech was limited to its 1.5-liter TSI petrol engine only.

Skoda claims that with the introduction of the idle start/stop function, the fuel efficiency (mileage) of Kushaq’s 1.0-litre TSI variants has gone up by 7 to 9 percent. Earlier, the 1-litre TSI engine was claimed to offer a fuel efficiency of up to 17.88 kmpl when paired with a 6-speed manual transmission and 15.78 kmpl with the 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

Despite the introduction of the idle start/stop function with the 1.0-liter TSI engine, the 1.5-liter TSI mill still remains more frugal. That said, it is claimed to deliver 17.95 kmpl with the manual and 17.71 kmpl with the DSG automatic.

Has there been any change in the power output as well?

No other changes have been made to the engine. This 3-cylinder turbocharged gasoline motor will continue to deliver a peak power output of 113PS and a maximum torque of 178Nm. On the other hand, the 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder, TSI petrol engine from the EVO series produces 150PS and 250Nm. It also gets active cylinder deactivation technology that switches off two of the four cylinders in low load condition to save fuel.

Prices

Currently, Skoda retails the Kushaq from Rs 11.29 lakh to Rs 19.49 lakh (ex-showroom). It goes up against the Volkswagen Taigun, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks, Hyundai Creta, MG Astor, and the upcoming Toyota Hyryder and Maruti Grand Vitara.
