New-Gen Toyota Land Cruiser To Be Revealed On June 9

Toyota has released a new teaser video of the upcoming new-gen Land Cruiser, announcing its premiere date. It will be revealed globally on 9th June 2021, followed by its launch in the Middle East first. Its India launch is expected in 2022. 

The new Toyota Land Cruiser has been spotted numerous times, revealing its exterior design. It will get a more contemporary design while retaining its bulky and rugged appearance. It will get a new bolder chrome grille, sleeker LED headlamps, stockier bumpers, and large 20-inch alloy wheels.

The interior will also undergo a complete overhaul, featuring an updated dashboard layout and a new interior shade. In terms of features, the new Land Cruiser is expected to come packed with premium goodies such as a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, connected car technology, four-zone automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, rear-seat entertainment screens, premium leather upholstery, heads-up display, multiple driving modes, electric sunroof, a 360-degree camera, driver assistance technology, and more.

Besides, the upgraded Toyota Land Cruiser could also get either a Toyota’s adaptive variable suspension with a torque-sensing limited-slip differential or Toyota’s Gazoo Racing division’s E- Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System with rear differential locks.

Underneath the bonnet, the new Land Cruiser SUV is reported to be offered with two engine options – 3.5-litre V6 turbo-petrol (414PS/650Nm) and 3.3-liter V6 turbo diesel (306PS/700Nm). Both the engines are likely to be available with a 10-speed automatic transmission along with a 4WD system as standard. While it is not official, Toyota could also introduce a hybrid powertrain in the future.

As mentioned above, the India launch of the new Toyota Land Cruiser is expected by next year. Like the previous-gen model, Toyota will continue to sell the SUV via the CBU route. Expect it to demand a significant premium over its last registered price of Rs 1.47 crore (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will be positioned against the BMW X7, Mercedes Benz GLS, and Range Rover.
