BMW R 1250 RT and K 1600 Range Launched In India

To please motorcycling enthusiasts and prospective buyers, BMW Motorrad has launched the R 1250 RT and K 1600 range of touring motorcycles in India. While the BMW R 1250 RT is priced at Rs 23.95 lakh, customers need to shell out an amount of up to Rs 33 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom) for the K 1600 range. That said, the latter is available in three variants: K 1600 B, K 1600 GTL, and K 1600 Grand America.

BMW R 1250 GT

Powering the BMW R 1250 RT is a 1254cc, liquid-cooled, EFI, 2-cylinder ShiftCam variable valve timing boxer engine that makes 136PS of power at 7750rpm and 143Nm of peak torque at 6250rpm. Mated to a 6-Speed transmission, it can sprint from 0 to 100kmph in just 3.7 seconds before attaining a top speed of 200kmph. It gets three riding modes, along with an Dynamic rider mode as an option.

Desing-wise, the R 1250 GT looks quite elegant thanks to its sleek front design that encloses LED headlamps and a large windscreen with integrated patented air duct. Features of the bike include traction control, cornering ABS, a audio system and a 10.25-inch colour TFT instrument console with smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth. It also gets Active Cruise Control (ACC) system that uses radar sensor to detect vehicles/objects around the motorcycle and adjust its speed.

In addition, there is a wide range of optional equipment and accessories so that you can personalise it as per your taste & convenience.

The colour options for the BMW R 1250 GT are Black Storm Metallic 2, Alpine White, Racing Blue Metallic, and 719 Mineral White Metallic.

As mentioned above, the BMW K 1600 comes in three variants: Bagger, GTL, and Grand America. All three motorcycles source their power from a 1649cc, in-line, six cylinder behemoth that churns out 160PS of whopping grunt at 6750rpm and a peak torque of 180Nm at 5250rpm. They also gets Rain, Road and Dynamic riding modes, along with traction control, dynamic engine braking control, and dynamic electronic suspension adjustment (ESA) with auto load leveling.

Other notable features of the K 1600 series include adaptive LED headlamps, adaptive cornering light, USB charging port, Hill start control, tyre pressure control system, heating function for grips & seats, side cases and a 10.25-inch TFT colour display with navigation & connectivity features. The K 1600 GTL and Grand America also gets a audio system. A topcase is also available with the K 1600 GTL.

Similar to the R 1250 GT, the K 1600 range of motorcycles also get a host of optional equipment and accessories.
